01

Before your first visit

How do I know if chiropractic care is right for me?

We begin with a conversation, not an assumption. Chiropractic is a licensed, portal-of-entry health profession in Michigan, which means you can come directly to Dr. John for an evaluation of concerns within the chiropractic scope of practice.

He will listen to what you are experiencing, take a thoughtful health history, and examine how your nervous and musculoskeletal systems may be communicating and adapting. If chiropractic care fits your needs and goals, he will explain why. If the findings call for another kind of expertise, he will help you understand that next step with the same care and respect.

You are also welcome to call the office before booking. Questions are always a good place to begin.

What happens at the first appointment?

Your first visit is built around understanding you—not simply chasing a symptom. Expect a detailed conversation about what has changed, your health history, the life you want to participate in more fully, and the goals that matter to you.

Dr. John will then perform a chiropractic examination tailored to your concerns, looking at relevant neurological, musculoskeletal, movement, and functional patterns. He will explain what he is assessing and make room for every question. Your recommendations grow from what your story and exam reveal, never from a one-size-fits-all script.

Will I be adjusted on the first visit?

Possibly. A chiropractic adjustment is never automatic, and it is not held back by an arbitrary rule. The first priority is gathering enough information to understand what your body is communicating and whether an adjustment is appropriate for you that day.

If your history and exam support moving forward—and you understand and feel comfortable with the recommendation—care may begin at the first visit. Sometimes the wiser next step is to review the findings more fully before beginning. Dr. John will explain the reasoning either way.

What should I bring or wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move easily. Bring a list of medications and supplements, relevant imaging or reports if you have them, and anything that helps tell the story of recent injuries, procedures, or diagnoses.

Most importantly, bring your questions and an honest picture of what has changed, what your body has been asking you to notice, and what you would love to feel confident doing again.

02

Care & safety

What does a chiropractic adjustment feel like?

A chiropractic adjustment is a precise, intentional input delivered through a joint and received by the nervous system. It is not about forcing the body into place. Dr. John’s approach respects your body’s innate capacity to heal and adapt, using the adjustment to support healthier motion, clearer body-brain communication, and a more useful response.

Depending on what your exam shows, the adjustment may feel like a gentle, lower-force movement or a quicker hands-on input. Dr. John will explain the approach, ask for your consent, and adapt it to your body, comfort, age, and health history. You may hear a pop, or you may not. That sound is simply a change in joint pressure; it is not the measure of a meaningful adjustment.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic is a licensed health profession, and thoughtful care begins with a proper history, examination, and clinical judgment. As with every form of healthcare, chiropractic care has benefits, limitations, and potential risks. Some people notice temporary soreness, stiffness, increased discomfort, or headache after a chiropractic adjustment, often resolving within a day. Serious complications have been reported but are rare.

Please share your complete health history, medications, current symptoms, recent injuries, and concerns. That information helps Dr. John choose an approach responsibly, adapt the adjustment when needed, and recognize when another kind of care should be part of the conversation.

Some symptoms should not wait. Seek urgent evaluation for new severe symptoms, sudden weakness or numbness, loss of bowel or bladder control, chest pain, or symptoms following major trauma.

Can I receive care while pregnant?

Pregnancy is a remarkable season of change. As the body adapts, posture, joints, movement, and the way load is carried can all shift. Some people explore chiropractic care for musculoskeletal comfort and function during pregnancy. Early research is promising, though still limited.

Let Dr. John know how far along you are and about any complications. The examination, positioning, and chiropractic adjustment should always be adapted to you and to this stage of pregnancy. Keep the other trusted members of your care team informed, ask what each recommendation is based on, and expect clear answers about the possibilities, limitations, and risks wherever you receive care.

Do you see babies and children?

Yes. Chi Rho Tribe welcomes families, and children deserve care designed for their growing, adapting bodies—not adult care made smaller. A child’s visit begins with an age-appropriate history and chiropractic examination, with a parent or guardian involved in every decision and consent. Any chiropractic adjustment is adapted in technique and force to the individual child.

Chiropractic can be one meaningful part of a child’s broader care team. When illness, injury, development, or another health concern calls for additional expertise, include a qualified pediatric healthcare professional you know and trust. Ask what every recommendation is based on, expect your concerns to be taken seriously, and seek another informed perspective when an answer feels unclear or incomplete. Being informed matters everywhere you receive care—not only here.

Do I need chiropractic care for life?

Not because someone tells you that you have to. Chiropractic care should remain an informed choice that serves your life. Some people come for a focused season of care around a particular concern. Others choose ongoing wellness care because they value how regular check-ins and chiropractic adjustments support the way they move, function, and adapt.

There is no single schedule that belongs to everyone. Dr. John will re-evaluate your progress, explain his recommendations, and help you choose a rhythm of care that continues to make sense for your goals and your body.

Practical details

How many visits will I need?

Your care plan is a roadmap, not a contract. The right starting point depends on what your history and examination reveal, how long your body has been adapting around the concern, what you want to return to, and how you respond to each chiropractic adjustment.

Dr. John will explain the reasoning behind his recommendation and re-evaluate along the way. As your body and goals change, the plan should be able to change with you.

What does care cost, and do you accept insurance?

Fees, payment options, and insurance arrangements can change, so the office is the best source for a current answer before you book. Call (248) 800-6214 or email Info@ChiRhoTribe.com and the team will walk you through the details clearly.
